    I dont think 140 approval notice is manditory, in many cases employees do not have 140 approval notice because that is a property of employer and not employee, 485 receipt notice is fine.

    On MM DD, YYYY, we received this application and mailed you a document describing how we process it. But you do not need to bother. Our system is so screwed up that we did not know how many cases we had pending. We did not communicate with DOL and DOS properly; so we ended up causing the July Visa Bulletin fiasco, which actually screws up your case even more if you were not one of the lucky applicants to have actually obtained your GC. But your increased fees for EAD & AP renewals have afforded us new janitors, so we will try to keep your files dust free.

    P.S : If you are an advanced degree holder born in India. Hahahaha.

    Most of the Nationalised bank ( SBI, PNB ) do not charge Pre-payment penalty. Though it clearly mentioned in their policy , you should check while taking the loan. It is negotiated also. I have IDBI loan with facility of no pre-payment penalty.

    Tell your banker not to extend the tenure of Loan when they increase the loan percentage. As they keep your EMI same but they change the tenure. That makes you nervous when you want to payoff your loan minus 13 months.

    common consensus seems to be -->

    if u have a valid/unexpired h1 petition, then even after using AP, u can continue to use the H1 for 'work authorization' ( u dont need to use EAD at the same employer).
    But after using AP, officially ur status is 'parolee' and not H1-B. (official status of entry as put on i94 doc)
    After using AP, u can further extend ur H1 if u want to -> in this case your status officially changes to H1b from parolee.
    After using AP, if u desperately need to get back on H1 (for whatever reason) -> u can either extend ur H1 or amend ur H1, both these will put u back on H1.
    Some people also say if u have used AP , but still have a valid h1 petition and desperately want to get back to H1, then u cud go to a consulate abroad, get ur h1 visa stamped and reenter and once again ur officially back on H1 ( seems valid, but i dont know anyone who tried this)

    Unfortunately for renewal and replacement EAD you will have to pay the new fee of $340 and yes your EAD will be valid for only one year.

    Hi

    You may already be knowing this. But a note of caution, after hearing few horror stories on H4 going out of status involuntarily.

    Extension of renewal on H1 does not mean H4 is automatically renewed. Your new H1b is valid until 2009. Unless you have filed I-539 along with your H1b renewal application, your wife is not going to get new I-94. So if her I-94 is expiring december 2007, she will be out of status after that date, not withstanding your H1B validiity.

    It doesnt matter if her visa stamp has your latest employer listed. The single most important thing that will determine her legal status is the validity of I-94 stamp
