For the uninitiated, COLTS stands for Compulsive Obsessive LUD Tracking Syndrome. You can also try and get an InfoPass appointment at the local USCIS office and check with an IO during the appointment what PD is assigned to your pending I-485. If its not the old RIR PD which is current, then you can hand them over a copy of your old I-140 approval notice and ask them to link it to your pending I-485. I would advise you to take an InfoPass and verify this information yourself.

Canada option though attractive has his own problems and I mean serious problems!. When you apply for stamping, consulate will first cancel your existing visa so if your H1B is denied you have to go to your home country from Canada!
I heard sometimes visa is not issued immediately due to admin processing or whatsoever.
In such cases, will they return the passport atleast so that one can travel to India till things get resolved.
And how do they let us know when to come back when things get ready.
Hyd consulate is asking so many many documents.

I am in the same boat and need to get my address updated. So what I understand from above posts is that there is no need to do paper based AR11 and can just do it online for I-485, EAD as well as AP, right?? Once done, just keep printouts for records , thats it???

forgot.. another nice feature of Painter 6.0 at least and I assume of 7.0. It will use any Photoshop plugins. Likewise it will import and export to Photoshop's psd format. I really believe that the programs are both good and are fated to be used together.

I'm from Bangladesh and EB3. As you know the I485 was current in July and i applied along with my EAD and AP. but this month in visa bulletin i found that the date went back to 2002.
My question is: are they going to consider my application current or i stuck in the backlog. my understanding is that the visa bulletin reflects the availibility to send the application....they received my application on July 2nd, 2007.

If I don't receive a response from USCIS before Jan 15, can I work till I get the notice ? or my employer is required to terminate my employment on Jan 15 according to the recapture time as mentioned on application ?
Your employer should terminate you from the job on Jan 15, as you will not be authorized to work after that.
I would like to apply for B2 transfer so I can stay for 2 months and travel around US. I might have to take it into foreclosure and eventually file for Bankruptcy and the process might take anywhere between 3 months to 18 months in present situation. I plan to leave US with in 2 months as I want to complete the mandatory 1-year outside before I could be eligible for new H1 visa but I might have to come back multiple to US for legal purposes during foreclosure or bankruptcy. Can I request a long term B2 visa (like 2 or 5 year) ?
COS will get you max of 6 months of B2 - If you apply B2 at consulate in your home country, you *may* have a chance of getting multiple year/entry B2 visa.

what does ur online status show btw? also ur dep's earlier checks havent cashed right ? dumb Q :-( one of my friend got in to similar situation he sent it back and checks cashed not sure how much did he sent though.

- The first lady asked me to bring the employment letter. I did not have it with me, I went home to get it and got in another line, that dude did not even look at it.
- Passport and I-94 (They did not check this) I took it just in case
- Cash - 25$
You will get a 5 year license, but it will say that you are a temp visitor till your EAD expires. You will have to take your EAD in when the new EAD comes in.

I only suspected I might be in trouble after finishing the entry, when I read the guidelines thread.
It doesn't seem fair that I've been disqualified over a rule that isn't actually in the rules.
The situation sort of reminds me of 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' where the Earth was destroyed because no one bothered to check the bulletin board on another planet.

Can anyone suggest me a good health insurance policy for the state of TN? What are the things that are important and what should be ignored? Most of the time I dont understand the technical terms used in it.

I am sorry, you are eligible for the emergency appointment because You are returning worker on h1b. But sometimes you dont get any slots in emergency appointment also. thats the reason i advised you to email to chennai consulate.
When i went to india in last october, thats what i did. I had to leave for india because of my father-in-law was died. Because it was emergency i did not have time to take the appointment while going to india. after going, i tried for emergency appointment but there were no slots before my ticket return date. then i contacted chennai consulate (not VFS), then they gave me the date and time for the interview. everything went well.
